Teagan went to the potty for the first time! I was unloading the dishwasher when we got home from school and she was sitting in the kitchen at my feet playing with the things she was "helping to unload." She looked up at me and said, "Shoo Wee!" I asked if she needed to go to the potty and she said her usual, "yeah." She walked to our bathroom and I thought it would be another one of those just sit and then say all done experiences. She pushed and told me, "all done!" I didn't expect anything to be there but sure enough, there was! We saved it for Daddy to see when he got home from work! Ah, the exciting things to look forward to after a long day at work!

Christmas Cards

There is so much going on this week, being the last week before Winter Break, but we MUST get our Christmas cards done! We need a Christmas picture taken so before we get started using Shutterfly we must have some pictures taken!

At school I am seeing all of the adorable holiday cards being posted on our family information board in the teacher workroom! It's my motivation to get our Christmas cards out before Christmas!

I have never ordered Christmas cards online before, I usually use a photographer and leave it up to them to put together the layout and design with the Christmas cards. This year I am excited to use my love of creativity and design and use Shutterfly's Christmas photo cards!
Being a busy working mom Shutterfly is such an easy website to navigate and they have such great designs to choose from, it doesn't take long at all!

I have already received a couple of friends Christmas cards in the mail and they were so adorable and looked great I immediately turned the card over to see where they were made. Shutterfly's logo was on the back! I was very impressed with how the photos turned out and the design of the cards.

I want to get my mom and dad a gift for Christmas with a picture of Teagan. Shutterfly has great photo gifts to pick from, I have already found the perfect photo gift for Gram and G-Daddy!

Thankful

We are so blessed and so very thankful...

For our God who shows us every day that He is. We are thankful to Him for Teagan, the gift so precious and perfect we could have never imagined how blessed we would be.

For our family who is always there to listen, give advice, and stand by us no matter what. We are thankful for you.

Our friends & co-workers, new and old, we cherish each friendship and are thankful for you.

We are looking forward to having Thanksgiving at our house this year! Getting Trinity and Teagan together will be amazing and a start to a lifelong friendship that we are all excited to see! Spending time with Adam's mom, dad, Justin and Colleen (Adam's brother and his wife) who we don't see often enough. Jed (Adam's uncle & his family), Christy, Jackson and Tyler will be here and we are excited to spend the day with them! Christy's mom, dad, and sister are also joining us on Thanksgiving and we are so happy to see them! Ann(Adam's aunt) and the kids(cousins) are driving in from Albuquerque and we are thankful they are able to come spend time with everyone too!
We have our Turkey & Ham - thanks to Hamm's in downtown McKinney!

I will enjoy the 9 days off we have from school, although I LOVE my job and my class, I am looking forward to my time with Adam and Teagan!

August!

It's been so long since I've posted it took me a couple of tries to log in to our blog! Can you believe it's already August?! Back to School time is here! I love my new school and classroom. It is very big and I have already unpacked and started decorating! My team is going to be amazing and I can already tell we are going to have lots of fun this year! Our numbers for 1st grade are very high so we will be getting another teacher to join our team, that'll make 4!! Can't wait to meet her :)

Adam started his new job with the company August 2. He is doing well and he enjoys it much more! I know God has a plan for him and this is a part of it. He will do great and has already had to take over with the partner going out of town his 1st week on the job. I think it's the best way to learn- just get thrown in and do your best! He might disagree with me on that one ;)

Teagan is saying and doing. She is always saying 'ide!' (Outside) I wish it wasn't quite so hot and there weren't so many wasps flying around our backyard- we would stay out there longer. I don't know what the deal is with all of these wasps but I am hearing other people talk about the same problem in their yards. Adam is always out there with Teagan's shovel and wasp spray. He comes in and announces "ADAM 3 WASPS ZERO!" He even stepped on one with his foot the other day when it landed a little too close to Teagan.

Adam introduced Teagan to turning on the sprinklers and running through them yesterday evening! They had a blast! Mommy stayed inside and worked on some things for a baby shower we are giving for my dear friend Abby on Saturday! I'll post pics when that takes place! We are so excited for Chris and Abby! Little Landry will be so loved :)

I am getting so very close to being finished with Curriculum Writing for MISD Science/Social Studies. I have 2-3 more lessons and I will go have some 'Mommy-juice' to celebrate when those are over! I have never wanted to get something off my plate so bad! I now understand why people run for the door when asked to do curriculum writing (in the summer!) Lesson learned :)

I know you were probably hoping for pictures or video but the video camera cord is MIA! I have an idea of who took it but where she placed it....I don't have a clue! It'll turn up soon I'm sure. I've been finding things in the freezer lately. She knows how to open that and the old coffee maker is on the floor in the pantry...found some things inside there also :)

We went to the Dr. and Teagan is exactly 25 lbs. She is using words which helps in knowing what she wants but when she doesn't know the words to what she wants screaming for it seems to be just fine for her :)

She is a little sponge and likes to be on the go! I have loved every second spent with her this summer and I can't wait for her to have so much fun at her new daycare. Her teacher is so sweet and really likes Teagan ALOT! She made bunny ears the other day while she was there- they were very cute! I can't wait to see what this school year holds for us!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. It feels like just yesterday we arrived home with Teagan. We are so excited for our family to come into town to celebrate her birthday with us! We have a busy week planned and Adam is off Wednesday and Thursday (her actual birthday)! I have curriculum writing for MISD on Wednesday and Thursday, so he will stay home with her during the day.

We have been so blessed this past year and our hearts have never been so full of love!

What a Mess!

I love sitting back and watching her think...
This video was captured a couple months ago but I thought you would enjoy watching her too.
She can't seem to figure out the spoon so she resorts to just using her fingers. At the end- good thing that bowl sticks, she would've had the bowl on her face licking the yogurt!
Lately she doesn't like to use her hands. Today I met a couple of friends at La Madeline for breakfast and they laughed and laughed as Teagan only picked up the strawberries with her mouth off the place mat and wouldn't use her hands. She also sets her pacifier on the floor and bends over, while standing, (no hands) to pick it up with her mouth! :)

I feel like joining in sometimes!With all joking aside.....this month is flying by!! The end of the school year always seems to pass quickly with my to-do list growing longer each day! But I LOVE when I can mark the items off my list as completed as well as place a huge X on my desk top calendar at school. OH and counting down the days with my class is even better!! Gets me excited for summer vacation!! Today we counted 26 days left!!

As most of you know I am going to be starting at a new school AGAIN in August! This change is a huge opportunity to "spread my wings" as my administrators would say! I am going to be helping open a new school and I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity! It most likely will be the last elementary school opening in this district and I will be a part of the team that helped open it! I will still be teaching first grade but will be taking on a new role as team leader of first grade!!!

I am excited to see what is to come with this and I am confident it will be a great experience! So, I am busy packing up my room and am sort of enjoying it! I love fresh beginnings and having a chance to get more organized than the year before. Planning classroom layout, decorating, and getting everything situated and prepared for the arrival of a new bunch is what I love to do! The new school is going to be very nice! 2 story, K-2 on ground floor, with built in lockers in each classroom, new and current technology so I will still have my SmartBoard plus some other new media equipment for the students to use. A principal who I already have a strong connection with since she was the one who got me into this district in the first place; only having interviewed me once, and a strong team of teachers that I can't wait to learn and grow with!

On top of the taking down and packing up there are end of the year grades, assessments, spreadsheets, portfolios, cumulative folders, meetings and presentations for Action Team (I am the Academic Action team leader) and have such a great team working together to accomplish amazing Action Plans for this school I am currently at. I enjoy being a part of and helping implement ideas. It kind of reminds me of "Undercover Boss." The teachers- the ones in there everyday- were asked to come up with Action Plans to better/benefit the school and the environment of the school. It's great! Tedious, but great! :)

I am mixed with emotions from all of this change happening. I am excited, anxious, anticipating what's to come, sad to be leaving all of the friendships I've formed at this school, happy with accomplishments. Some bonds will be lasting friendships. They were all there supporting me when I was pregnant with Teagan! When I had her. When I returned to work and went through all of the emotional stages a working mother goes through. I wouldn't trade it for anything! The experience, the advice, the excitement when Teagan hit certain milestones! NOW celebrating her 1st birthday coming up!! I am so looking forward to each one of them being here to celebrate with us!

Teagan is busy busy! Walking everywhere! Loving her freedom to move and go where she wants. She is talking more and pointing to things and showing amazing signs of understanding. She will let us know now when she would like more of something with sign as well as when she's done eating she says "duh" and makes the motion for finished. The video is when she was pointing out ducks in the book. She has found that she really likes ducks! Maybe it has to do with the funny sounding quacking Adam and I do when she finds ducks! :)

Adam had a day off Tuesday and took Teagan to get her blood drawn for lab tests they do now to make sure she isn't anemic, hasn't ingested any lead, etc. SHE WAS PERFECT! No squirm, no cry, not even a peep! She held bear, sat in Adams lap and did great! I was so proud of her and proud of Adam for his calm nature. I know she sensed his calmness and therefore was calm herself! He amazes me with her and with his involvement. Such a great father and husband!

Teagan turned 10 months old yesterday!
She is...
-taking 1-2 steps. Still trying to get her balance down.
-Saying "Daddy!" ALL the time.
- Her new word is "Hi!" She will put the 2 together and say "Hi, Daddy!"
-She LOVES to be outside.
-She is eating a variety of table food. We tried Ham yesterday and she really liked it. Cheese might be her new favorite next to pears and apples.
- She learned that the stairs make Mommy panic and she enjoys trying to climb up them. We had to go purchase a gate...
-She is showing increased interest in Bella's room as she crawls by. She likes to watch Bella eat her dog food.
-Still loves her baths. She now likes to watch the water fill up the tub. I have learned twice now to keep her diaper on as she watches. The sight of water=Teagan peeing.
-She likes to "throw" Bella's ball for her and then clap!
-She gives Bear kisses on his nose! It's so cute and my favorite when I see her being so sweet to her Bear.
-She understands "Can I have that" and she'll hand over the object.

Adam and I are amazed at how fast she's growing! We are enjoying every second spent with our little girl.

Visit to the Easter bunny

Well the day started out with a lazy morning, which I love! Teagan and Bella looking out the front window together...

We had breakfast, napped (well, Teagan napped). Got dressed in our new outfit from Grams and GDaddy, had lunch and took a few pictures outside since it was such a beautiful day today! 80's!

Then we set off to the mall to see the Easter bunny! Thankfully the line wasn't too long when we got there. We stood in line about 30 minutes.

Teagan did great! She was a little sleepy and did not crack a single smile at the girl with the puppet behind the camera!

Her face was actually quite hilarious. Sort of a "what's the big deal" look. I am just glad she didn't get scared. She enjoys animals and things that are soft. (Notice her hand feeling the bunny's fur). "Her world has been very soft" someone has told me. I smile at this comment because it is so true! She prefers to rock and cuddle only when I have my soft, fluffy robe on. I try to get Adam to wear it but he refuses. :)

Tomorrow is her very first Easter and we are looking forward to spending time together to celebrate, remember and thank Jesus for dying for us and loving us!

Look at how great a love the Father has given us, that we should be called God's children (1 John 3:1)

9 months

YAY! Spring time is here! Time to get out for more walks and getting familiar with the grass...

Teagan was very unsure about it...

But found it very interesting! There is always time for a teaching moment...

Teagan is 9 months old now and I can't believe we just celebrated 2 of her friends 1st birthday's! She's next!
Here is a picture I got of Brody the birthday boy last Saturday...

At 9 months Teagan can:
-pull herself up to standing position and likes to push her baby stroller

-crawls (all 3 ways!) Bear crawl is my favorite. When she reaches the tiled areas she will straighten her legs and lock them at her knees. It is hilarious! She knows the tile is cold on her legs if she crawls normally. She will still army crawl now and again too.
- recognizes and says, "Dada, Mama, Bella, ball, and baba (bottle)" Yesterday she started saying "no no" back to me...
-only eats table food. Refuses and slaps at or pushes your hand away if you try to spoon feed her baby food.
-Picks and chooses what she would like to eat on her tray. I will scatter a few options and she knows exactly what she wants. When she wants more she reaches for it with her hand and lets you know! : )
- can drink from a sippy cup!
-LOVES pears and bananas!
-likes to share her food with Bella
-has a sweet tooth or a strong preference for the cinnamon/brown sugar swirl bread.
-has 2 bottom teeth
-gives kisses. Most of the time she will just make the noise at you and hope you'll be satisfied. When she feels like it she'll give the real thing.
-likes to pat. Pat me and say 'mama' pat Bella, pat Mrs. Brooke's arm when sitting by her at a restaurant :)
-LOVES to play or hold a ball.

-wakes up talking in her sweet voice and waits patiently for someone to come get her.
-stands in her crib.
-still loves her naps and will show you she wants to go lay down by throwing her head back when holding her.
-is fascinated with wires or anything that looks like one: shoe laces, draw strings on clothes, etc.

-likes to touch my earrings and let me know she sees them, but she won't pull on them. Necklaces- that's another thing that looks like a wire!
-takes 2 naps a day
-loves to cuddle and sleep with Bear

-likes to listen to music
-can hold bottle by herself, but prefers someone else to
Teagan is such a sweet little girl and Adam and I feel very blessed to be able to experience something new with her each day!

Spring cleaning

I have all these great ideas of Spring cleaning that I want to get accomplished while I have this week off of work!
1. Clean out my closet. Move winter clothes to another closet upstairs. Bring down Spring clothes.
2. Organize my jewelry drawer! It's become a mess!
3. Deep clean the house- blinds, fans, places I normally don't get to clean on a regular basis.
4. Have carpet cleaning guys out to clean carpets and deep clean the tile!
So today I started. Not anything I listed above...
of course. I always some how end up getting into another project that I didn't have in mind!
Teagan was not using her bouncers, her bumbo, pack and play pieces and all of her out grown clothes so I just tossed them into a spare bed room upstairs to deal with later. Well, today was later and I don't think I wanted to face it. I am not ready to get rid of the baby things. She is growing up so fast. Everyone always said it when I was pregnant but you don't realize it until it actually starts happening.
People ask about milestones..When did she start sitting up on her own? When did she start crawling, standing, pulling up, eating table food pieces?! It all happens so fast it's hard to recall. I tried to do my best to record the month in which she started doing each one, but find myself wishing I would've written down the exact place and time. What we were doing. Who was there. What she was wearing. Taken a picture and possibly video so it is documented for the rest of her life. Adam and I couldn't believe this morning we were putting her baby stuff in the attic when it feels like we just got it all out of boxes and set it up for her.
Well, moving past the depressing morning... I have been in my pj's all day. Its 4:00 and I am about to get out of them to go to Home Depot with Adam and Teagan! It is so beautiful outside I hope I can talk him into going to walk around the outdoor shopping mall! "Walk," as in maybe pick up an item or two! Teagan loves riding in her umbrella stroller and smiling at all the people who walk by. It is one of my favorite things about her. Even if people don't stop to ooh and ahh or smile at her and they just walk towards us and pass by- she still has this huge grin on her face like she is about to make a new friend! Such a social butterfly. I am working on downloading video of her. It takes so long but it is worth it once it uploads. For now, here is a picture until the video posts!

I am sitting here with Teagan watching her eat her cheerios all by herself while I try to get a few spoonfuls of Apples and Apricots (baby food) in her mouth. She is becoming so independent, so quickly. I cannot believe it has already been 8 months. Adam and I are really enjoying this stage with her and all of the fun things she can do. Her big personality keeps us laughing and looking at each other nervously for whats in store when she gets older! : )

I am looking forward to Spring Break - which is in 2 weeks! School has kept me VERY busy this year. It seems like every time a big event/project is over another one is right around the corner! I have been asked to speak to a group of principals from another district on Tuesday about how I am using a particular Mathematic program in my classroom. They are trying to decide if they will adopt the program and are curious how teachers are using it. There were only 4 teachers asked to speak. Adam has taken a break from his home improvement projects for now. I have a few in mind that I'd like to start but won't.

Project Man

Adam LOVES finding projects to complete around the house. I have to admit as time consuming and stress filled as they can sometimes be...I love that about him. He isn't afraid to take something on that he isn't sure about.
Here is the new project for the weekend of 1-23-10. Filling the cut out that the builders 4 years ago thought would be a good idea to put in the living room. The dimensions are so strange we cannot find any type of furniture to fit in there without being too skinny, too tall or too wide. The furniture we have had in there since we bought this house has always been too big. We had it turned and sort of sticking out...which actually worked for the layout of the living room. Old picture...but you can see how it sticks out at an angle...

Well for the past 3 weekends Adam has been MIA working on his birthday project. He got a projector and screen for the media room and moved the flat screen tv that was in there to above the fireplace in the living room. We sold the living room tv and now have moved the piece of furniture that held that tv to the hallway across from the dining room! I love it for extra storage!

So, now we need an open shelving/bookshelf type thing to hold the media equipment for the living room tv. If it is in the piece of furniture that was there, the doors always had to be open for the remote to work. Adam decided to go to Home Depot and try and attempt building something himself. On Saturday morning, pulling out of Home Depot, he hit a pot hole and most of the supplies he bought flew out of the back of his truck. He looped back around to pick them up out of the road and they were GONE! Discouraged, he came back home and said, "lets just go buy something." We spent all day Saturday looking for something to fit those strange dimensions...Nothing! So today (Sunday) he woke up and went back to Home Depot...re bought the missing supplies that took flight out of the back of his truck...came home and we got to work. YES thats right, WE. I helped. And took pictures!
Step 1: Adam measures and makes a plan

Step 2: Bring inside ALL supplies. Screws, drill gun, LOTS of boards, liquid nails, hammer, nails, crow bar, ax (haha) yes we used this to help push the shelf into the hole in the wall...ALL supplies..in living room

Step 3-10: Build it

Step 11 and I lost count: Stand it up, frame it out, push it into the inset in wall, run cords through back and plug them in, paint, frame it with crown molding and put in some decorations!

Teagan slept for 2 hours this morning and we were able to build the unit and shelves while she snoozed. When she woke up we stood it up and she played happily in her jumper while we pushed it into the hole in the wall.

It was perfect..Adam did an amazing job and we finished this project in ONE day! Now I have those book shelves I've been wanting! And I am very proud of Adam. He is such a handy man! :)

YAY! I love it!! I was sitting at the computer a couple nights ago chatting with my mom when Adam walked up holding Teagan. She saw me sitting here and then smiled and starting waving!! Then, when I got to Miss Holley's today, Holley was holding her, she saw me and started waving again!! Adorable!! She makes my heart melt. Adam told her the other day her smile lights up the whole room! We were talking about how waking up in the middle of the night to her crying isn't so bad once you see her big smile as you approach her crib! It's worth it. It's so crazy how she makes your days better and brighter!!

Unfortunately we have a doctors appointment tomorrow due to her unusual behavior. With all the symptoms mentioned the nurse thinks an ear infection :( no fun for her! I hope she sleeps well tonight and we can get some medicine to help if that's the case. OR it could be just the yucky symptoms of teething...I dunno! But I will feel much better knowing that I can help her feel better!

Dad has shoulder surgery tomorrow for a torn rotator cuff. At Christmas he slipped on the ice and it all went downhill from there! I love you Dad and hope your healing time is quick and as pain free as it gets! Good thing you have Mom there to take care of you! She is the best at that. Wish we were able to come this weekend but with a sick baby both forms of transportation sound horrible-airplane or 6 hour car ride...no thank you! Amber W. I am so sorry I will miss your shower. I am very sad about that. I look forward to coming to see you and that adorable baby bump soon!

Teething

YIKES! A stage I wish could be skipped! Poor little girl was hurting so bad last night. She was fine when we went to dinner but all day she was fussy on and off. I gave Tylenol every 4 hours and she ate normal so it wasn't too bad to keep her from eating. The minute I laid her in bed she lost it! I picked her back up after a few minutes of really hard crying (which isn't typical Teagan behavior). She gagged a few times and then projectile vomited for the first time over my shoulder. She had a low grade fever the previous night that broke Saturday morning and she is very runny nosed and sneezing alot. The throw up was mostly her drainage but that nasty stomach bug has been going around my classroom like crazy, I was worried I might have brought the germs home with me and given it to her. She thankfully didn't throw up again, but she did wake up every hour with a painful scream. She was very restless and ended up sleeping between me and Adam the rest of the night. Today she seems much better but still a little off behavior wise. She has taken 2 really good naps in her own bed today so hopefully tonight it won't come back to bother her again. We are guessing we'll see a tooth within a week!

On a lighter note...her first word with clear understanding of what it is said for would be....BELLA! I caught her saying it the other morning on video. She says it when Bella is around. She will look for her and say it if Bella is not in sight. It's so cute! She will also slap the ground with her hand as if she's telling her to 'come here.' She has been saying Mama and Dada for a while now but it is more of a babbling thing.

This is my 4th year to teach. Tonight I received 2 letters in the mail from one of the sweetest little girls in my 1st, First grade class. She sends letters to me every now and then. It is great to hear from her and I am always excited to open the mail when Adam brings it inside and says "you have a letter from Carleeanna!" He knows that it lights a certain spark inside of me to hear from a student I once taught. I sometimes forget how much I truely enjoy this profession and why. I wish I could have a Carleeanna in every class each year. One student who allows me to remember why I love my job so much. A student who reminds me that I am impacting little lives daily. Carleeanna- I hope you got my email and you are reading this! I miss your smiling face, but look forward to hearing from you each year!

We cannot believe Teagans 1st Christmas has come and gone and now it's 2010! Here a a few pictures of our decorations this year

What a great 2009 we had. We have many things to look forward to and blog about in 2010. (1st New Years resolution: Get better and faster about blogging!)
(2nd resolution: Bring camera everywhere to document! AND camera battery charger!!) We forgot the charger on our adventure for Christmas... the pictures I have are from Grams' camera (my mom) on the days before and after when we were in Lubbock. We did however, get video of Christmas morning in Albuquerque!

Teagan's first Christmas was wonderful! We were able to drive to Lubbock Saturday December 19th and visit my family. Then we drove from Lubbock to Albuquerque on Tuesday December 22nd to spend 5 days there with Adam's family. We drove back to Lubbock for a night and then back to McKinney the following Monday! Lots of road time. Teagan was an angel and I was glad to make the trips with Adam. We enjoyed our travel time together. My car was loaded down with toys, a baby jumper, Bella and her kennel, luggage, etc.

I am working on the videos that we took during our Christmas break so they will have to be posted later...

It used to be the countdown until Christmas, which we are still doing...
BUT I am personally counting down the days for Winter Break to be able to spend weeks and weeks with Teagan!
9 days! and Wednesday is a half day!
The weather is so cold recently. It's going to be a very cold winter!
Knock on wood- we've been very lucky- Teagan hasn't been sick yet. I'm still praying for a healthy little girl during the cold winter season. She had a few sneezes and watery eyes this past weekend but all has cleared up reports Holley today. No sneezing or runny nose! Must have been allergies! So thankful it isn't a cold.
We visited the VERY GOOD Santa at Northpark on Saturday. I was happy with her reaction!
She stared her blank stare and grabbed at his nose and beard. The picture is perfect because this is her usual face...

Looks familiar...

She has been grabbing a lot of noses lately. It's so cute.
No teeth yet. Haven't seen any behavior signs that she is teething so maybe one day they will just appear with no tears or pain. I've read that it has happend to parents before. All of a sudden there the tooth was! Didn't even see it coming!
We can only wish...
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family visiting. We made a ton of food!

That weekend we finally bought Teagan a highchair that she loves to sit in and I love that it matches our decor in the house! Mom and Adam joked that that was the 1st thing I was looking for in a highchair. Not true, but yes important...

I also got an early Christmas present from mom and dad that I love! The BabyCook! I have really enjoyed making Teagan's food and experimenting with different tastes and textures with her! So far she is a BIG fan of the Organic dark red apples, pears with rice cereal and sweet potatoes. I made butternut squash and corn last night and tonight! Next on the list to try homemade: bananas and zucchini!

Holidays

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is in a few days. I never believed people who said "enjoy every minute because time goes by so fast", but they were right. Teagan saw her first Christmas lights last night at the Shops at Legacy Tree Lighting Festival. The weather was in the 60's. Teagan was cozy in her stroller cover

The big tree lights were turned on at 6:30 and we made it JUST in time and saw it with our windows down, driving past looking for a parking spot. Having a baby also makes it hard to be anywhere on time. We had that problem before Teagan was born, so now it's even harder! After we found a parking spot we walked through a huge crowd to get to Mi Cocina and have dinner with Brody, Gabe and Lindsay. After dinner we took a few pictures by the big tree. Walking back to our car the lights caught Teagan's attention and she stared for a while as we pushed her past in her stroller.

This lighting makes me think of the Carol of Lights in Lubbock. Not nearly as good but it's as close to home as it gets.

Mom, Dad and Carter will arrive on Wednesday for Thanksgiving! We are very Thankful they are able to come and spend time with us. I am also thankful I will be able to eat Mom's cooking this year! Last year Adam and I stayed here and had Thanksgiving just the 2 of us. I attempted Mom's recipes- it's just not the same!
I will enjoy helping cook and I found 2 new recipes we are anxious to make: Pumpkin Turtle Cheesecake and Pumpkin Spice Muffins with vanilla pudding and cream cheese in the center. Will be so yummy with coffee! Thanks Mom for bringing your coffee maker also since we are in need of a better one! On Friday we hope to see Aunt Linda, Uncle Alex, Hannah and Colt since they will be here for the Tech vs. Baylor game Saturday. Adam, Carter and Dad will attend the game at the new Cowboys stadium! Should be fun!
I am also very thankful that I can stay home this week and enjoy my time with Teagan. She has developed such a funny little personality and I love being able to see it during the day!
On the agenda for today:
-Clean out my purses and shoes.
-Take them to Plato's Closet and try to sell them!
-Go to Saxby's to get a Snickerdoodle latte!
-Laundry

Adam and I also wanted to say how much we love and appreciate everyone in our lives. Adam's Aunt Teri passed away last week and we are thankful he was able to go spend time with family. I'm sorry to Jeremy and Shelby for your loss and not being able to come with Teagan for the service. From what Adam told me it was beautiful and a perfect celebration of life. We will miss Teri but cannot deny how happy and free she must be now! I can only imagine how wonderful a reunion between her and Scott it must have been! We are thankful for the time we got to spend with them. All our love XOXO

Rolling over and Trade days

Today we went to a Holiday Trade days type thing at a Jr High down the street with Brooke, Gavin, Brooke's mom, Lindsay and Brody! It was fun except for when we were leaving 3 bees found my sonic cherry coke and landed on it while it was in the cup holder of the stroller. I stood there in the parking lot for a while planning how I was going to get the cup out of the cup holder without getting stung and then proceed to fold up the stroller and place it in the back of my car quickly! I was shaking so bad when I finally decided to grab the cup and throw it away from the stroller and RUN! Teagan was already safe in the car but I was still worried that the bees would find their way inside the car and sting her! Thank goodness we got away without any stings. I'm sure if people were watching they got a good laugh.

At the Jr. High 3 ladies came up to Teagan and told her how pretty she was and how much they loved her flower. She looked at them for a second..thought about it.... then started crying! It's the new stage she's going through with certain strangers. I feel bad but I guess it's her way of telling them she isn't in the mood for them to get in her face!!

Teagan was a leopard for Halloween this year! We went to Gabe and Lindsay's house and watched the end of the Tech game then walked around the neighborhood with Teagan and Brody. Their neighborhood had tons of kids and grown ups dressed up trick or treating. Sadly, we don't see that in our neighborhood. We had fun over there! Brooke, Steven, and Gavin were there for a little while too. Long enough to get a picture of the 3 together! Gavin was an adorable skunk and Brody was a very cute scarecrow! Happy Halloween!

Green Beans

Teagan had her hand raised the whole time I was feeding her ?? in my classroom holding up your hand with 2 fingers raised like this indicates you would like to go get a drink of water...

Yummy!! She liked them! Took a couple tries but she kept opening her mouth. At one point she had them on her nose and then before I could wipe them off she sniffed and they went up! Today we had a couple of sneezes where bright green came out. Tonight we had green beans again and this time had them with only a diaper on. I am learning! Forget the cute bibs, the food gets EVERYwhere!! Bella also enjoyed the left over green beans that I forgot to pick up off the ground and take to the sink. Wondering why she was in the living room for so long....OH the little bowl was still on the floor and licked clean. Gross!
Teagan was such a good baby last night when we decided to go to Saltgrass for dinner. She was awake the whole time (45 minute wait) and all through dinner. During the wait a little boy came over to us and asked if she was a boy or girl. Then he informed us he'd like a baby brother. We were wondering where this kids parents were. He was 6 and Adam got a taste of what I deal with each day. 20 of him! He was talking our ears off and then his little sister Rose who was 4 came and sat RIGHT next to me and Teagan. She was practically in my lap too! Asked if she could hold Teagan! haha She got so upset when I said that she was too little for her to hold. She then decided she'd like to put Teagan's pacifier in and out of Teagan's mouth. Can you imagine my face? Trying to be very polite. Well after handling all of Teagan's toys that we had out and holding our pager for when they were ready to seat us I jumped up to go "change her diaper." OH! Rose also wanted to come! Thankfully the mom said 'no' but then I left her there with Adam and her chatty brother. The parents were thinking it was the cutest thing ever- how much she loves babies! I come back to find we STILL hadn't been called to our table and Adam was still sitting by the boy. Rose was in time out for twisting Teagan's carseat straps and slapping her mom's hand when her mom told her to stop doing that! WOW what an experience!

Welcome Autumn

I am officially going to keep this blog updated!
October is almost over! Where did the time go? Teagan is now 4 months old. We had her 4 month shots on Tuesday and she was not so tough this time. At 2 months she didn't even cry. Just a little disapproving scream at the end of the last shot. This time she cried real tears and screamed while the Dr. examined her. She has found her voice and loves to TALK! In the car on the way to Mrs. Holley's each morning she will coo all the way there. Sometimes to lull herself to sleep but other times just to hear herself! Or running errands- lots of talking! She is changing every day and it has been fun watching her learn new things and develop a little personality! She is sitting up well...not on her own yet without tumbling over but in her Bumbo, in her stroller, and her jumper has become a big favorite to sit in and play!
She is very close to rolling over! We are anxious to see this happen!
We are starting her on green beans tonight! We've done cereal now for a couple of weeks, twice a day, and she has the hang of opening her mouth and taking it on the spoon. It's so cute when she turns her head to signal that she's had enough! We will need a highchair soon. She is sitting in her bouncer and Bumbo to eat now.

Christmas cards will be sent out in November, hopefully! Adam has to work the days before and after Thanksgiving so we wouldn't be able to travel to Lubbock to spend the holiday there, so mom dad and Carter will come out here! We are very excited to see them and have Thanksgiving at our house this year!
Unfortunately I waited to do report cards until last minute so today I am working on those and going up to school tomorrow with Teagan, while Adam is at soccer, to get things ready and organized for next week. Not such a relaxing weekend but Halloween weekend will be fun and enjoyable! Can't wait to get Teagan a costume!

First Saturday of the School Year

Yesterday we had a great Saturday together! Teagan woke up- sat in her bouncer on the kitchen counter while I made Lemon Poppy seed muffins and scrambled eggs for breakfast. She laughed and cooed. Then she fell asleep so I put her in her swing (which she LOVES!) I took a video of that. She is mesmerized by the lights and the sounds of birds and crickets. I still need to get a water noise CD. She is very still and calm when she hears running water. Except if its the bath water! She kicks her feet and gets really excited when she knows its bath time! After her nap she woke up and came and sat in the bathroom while I showered and got dressed for the day. She is very entertained by her hands lately and puts them in her mouth a lot. Now her chewing on her hands is not so much a hunger cue anymore :) We left around 11:45 to meet Adam on his lunch break. He had to work yesterday :( but had a good day for a Saturday. 3 loans. We met at the Shops in Legacy and tried a new salad place called Salada. It was REALLY good. Thanks Lindsay for the recommendation! We will definitely be going back. It's a line where you choose your lettuce, veggies, fruit, nuts, all sorts of different flavored chicken, shrimp, dressing. It's in this huge bowl and really good. Their Passion Green Tea is also very good! After lunch we met Brooke and Gavin at Stonebriar in an attempt to get my phone fixed at the new Apple store. I couldn't figure out why it was freezing and the screen would go black when someone would be calling on call waiting. Well the guy said I have missed 2 updates. Oops! Needless to say I am glad I didn't have to be in the Apple store long because it was a zoo! We wandered around for a while and then decided to go to Target which is always fun! Teagan is such a trooper when we shop. She sleeps and I hold things up to her to see if they might fit. She is now wearing Carter's Medium (3-6) month. She is a healthy girl! I'm still nursing and hope to continue for as long as my body will produce. When we came home from shopping we had some play time and waited for Adam to get home. I love the weekends now and really look forward to the time spent with her. I look forward to Sunday's when we can attend church as a family. Even though I am going up to school today (Sunday) after church, Teagan will be there with me and she'll motivate me to hurry up, plan and get out of there!!

School Year Begins

I apologize for the lack of posting on our blog! We've been extremely busy with Teagan being awake more and getting back to work and figuring out how to get everything ready the night before to make for a much less hectic morning! Thanks to Mom I had a great "Academy Week" at school. She was amazing! Making me a healthy breakfast each morning and packing good things for me to snack on during the day. Going to get coffee in the morning- Market Street has much better coffee than our coffee maker! Mom was super woman- taking great care of Teagan, keeping a detailed schedule of her day, making lunch when I would come home during my lunch break, coming up to school with me and helping me get my room ready for Meet the Teacher night while also taking care of Teagan there! I could not have done it without you!! Thank you.
Today marks the 2nd day of the 2009-2010 school year. I came home in tears yesterday. I won't lie, leaving Teagan during the day is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Sending her to a complete stranger and just trusting that she will take the best care of our precious baby is very difficult. Teagan is doing great though as we knew she would! She has fallen into a good little pattern/schedule and is sleeping for 6 hours during the night- which is a wonderful thing! We are still finding ourselves exhausted though when we come home from the day. I have 21 students in my class this year. I have been blessed with some GREAT students this year, but then there are also always those challenging ones :o) The first few weeks are always hard and very busy with trying to establish your rules and routine with the students, but also diving into the curriculum and doing pre-assessments to see where they are. They are catching on quickly and I am feeling more confident my 2nd year with MISD. I was talking with someone the other day and I can't believe I've already been teaching for 4 years. The time is flying by!
Adam and I are really enjoying watching Teagan attempt to talk and her smile lights up her whole face. She is such an angel. Who knew we could love something so much! Here is a video we took of her tonight while we were in the kitchen waiting on our homemade pizza to cook!

Summer

It has been a long time since I've posted! We can't believe Teagan is already 2 months old! Tomorrow I will take her to her 2 month appointment where the dreaded shots are given :( She is sure to shed a tear which I saw today, they have finally come and it is heartbreaking. We returned yesterday from Horseshoe Bay lake in Marble Falls where we spent the week with my mom and her 3 sisters. Then the guys met us on Friday for the weekend. Here's a picture of the crew:

We were sad to leave and come back to the reality that is setting in...summer is coming to an end. I am having a hard time realizing that I won't be spending my days with Teagan. We start back this Thursday officially. Where did the time go?

We hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th! Oh how things have changed since last 4th of July, for the better, of course!
Teagan dressed for the festivities

We had dinner at our friend's Gabe, Lindsay and Brody's beautiful new home in McKinney. They have been waiting for their house to be built and living in Colleyville. They are all moved in and we are glad they are back just down the road!

Shane and Kelly brought the best brisket tacos. They are expecting twins in September/October! We can't wait to meet the babies (1 boy, 1 girl)!!

Brooke, Stephen and Gavin were also with us! Stephen was the first brave one to taste my new recipes :) Corn dog muffins (really good if you like corn dogs, and I do!) and for dessert Pretzel Strawberry bars- also turned out good! I really enjoy cooking and trying new recipes but wow is it hard to do all of that in between Teagan's naps. It'll get better when I get faster. And thank goodness Adam was also there to help!

Then we all went to the Craig Ranch area to watch fireworks. We headed home fairly early to get to bed in a hurry! I was exhausted yesterday and also today feeling very tired. Teagan has been up from 1-4 both nights previous and just wide awake curiously looking around. She is the sweetest little girl and is enjoying her snuggle time with Daddy before back to work tomorrow. Today is the perfect day for this....It's raining on and off and very overcast.

Teagan Michele Arrives!

Sorry for the delay in posting! It has been a crazy week! We are so glad our little girl is healthy and arrived into this world on Wednesday June 17, 2009. What a special day to remember!!

Hospital picture- 8 lbs 14 oz

Who would have ever guessed that was how big she was! She was squished up in my belly so tight. It is so strange that one day I had a big shelf and now there is nothing there. It has been very nice to be able to sleep on my right side again as well as my back. The recovery process from the hospital has not been a bad one. I am now off my pain medicine and only taking Motrin as needed for cramping pains associated with nursing. Teagan is doing great with eating and goes every 1-2 hours in between last feedings. Every newborn has a goal of 8-12 feedings in a 24 hour period and she is eating about 14 feedings so we are on track! Our first doctor appointment is this Friday at 10! We love our pediatrician. He came to visit us in the hospital and talked to Adam all about his family and 3 year old little boy. He and his wife also have another one on the way. It's nice having a "family oriented doctor" since he has most likely been there and knows what it is like to go through this amazing experience!

Adam will return to work a half day on Friday to make sure he is all ready to go Monday when he starts back. I am having a hard time thinking about him leaving us during the day because he has been amazing. I couldn't have married a better man and now he has exceeded my expectations as a father and spouse. Waking up in the night with me even though all there is to do is feed her. He changes her diapers and lets me get all set up and ready to nurse. He always asks if I need anything and jumps up to go get the things we might need. He is wonderful and what a great Father's day- just in time!

We had both sets of grandparents here on the night before we went into the hospital (Tuesday June 16). My parents left Saturday morning and Adam's left Sunday afternoon. Adam and I are very thankful for all of the things they did for us. You hear so many "over bearing grandparent"stories from other people but Adam and I can honestly say we had wonderful memories and experiences with Teagan's grandparents and we loved every minute they were here! Thank you Mom, Dad, Chuck and Lynn.

Yesterday was our 39 week checkup at the doctor and everything was good! Teagan's heart rate was at 138 and she was moving all around. My blood pressure was good and I am dilated 2.5 which is progress from last Thursday's appointment. My cervix is still posterior (too high) and we will go into the hospital at 5pm on Tuesday the 16th to spend the night and take a medicine to "soften my cervix." This medicine is supposed to last for 12 hours, but in some cases has sent others into labor soon after so Teagan will either be here the night of the 16th or early on the 17th!! If she is born on the 17th that day is very special to Adam and I because 4 years ago June 17th he proposed to me in New Mexico! We can't believe her birth is only 4 days away now! Today is Adam's last day with Bank of America for 2 weeks! We have all weekend and Monday to spend together and go on dates before the big day Tuesday! We are so excited for this little girl to turn our world upside down!

Waiting Patiently

Well, school is out for summer and this year flew by! It seems like just the other day I was getting my classroom ready for my first year in McKinney ISD!!

We were telling family and friends we were expecting a baby- which seemed so far away at the time! Now we are only days away from her birth instead of months and weeks!! Adam is going crazy- he cannot wait for Teagan to get here! I am doing good and still feeling great! If all my pregnancies go as well as this one I would love to have 3 or 4 kids!! :o) I'll come back to that comment after the delivery and see if I still feel the same way!

Everything around the house is ready.

My nesting is pretty much over. I finished up organizing and labeling the game room closet yesterday. Adam was not too excited to see all my scrap-booking things, including an open bottle of glue (I did a little scrap-booking as I went along with the organizing) on the pool table. I was very careful and we had no glue spills! I feel much better getting that closet done and now... we still wait.

The hospital bag keeps getting rearranged and I removed some things but only to add others that I decided might be better.

My plans for this week are thank you notes, thank you notes and thank yous!! I have some done but lots more to go! My Mom also bought Teagan the cutest baby book so I am going to buy some calligraphy pens and fill that out as much as I can before her arrival!

Adam has had a relaxing 3 days off ("storing up his sleep" as everyone keeps telling us to do) and he will play golf tomorrow morning. We are planning on a movie tonight! Enjoying our time together as much as we can! Bella also getting in her Daddy time.

Tomorrow I am meeting a couple of college friends, who were also in our wedding, that I haven't spent nearly enough time with while being pregnant. They are coming to see the nursery and then we are grabbing lunch!

3 day weekend!

YAY!! 3 day weekend! We just got done with our childcare and CPR class at the hospital! It was a good class and I am glad we went. It was helpful and gets us that more excited for Teagan's arrival! Adam had 3 soccer games today- a tournament. We compromised and he attended the morning game at 9 and showed up to the class at 10:30. He hadn't missed anything I couldn't tell him about :o) Then we stayed until 3 and he missed the 12 o'clock game but made it to the 4 o'clock one. If they win this one then they play tomorrow.
It's been raining on and off today but no storms. I am about to go lay down and try to fall asleep. Yesterday was the school baby shower given by my room mom's and the students loved it! They liked for me to read ALL of the cards I opened and they "ooo and aww'd" at the clothes and cute blankets we received! They made a book for me dedicated to Teagan called "What I Like About Mrs. Colberg." I LOVE IT! They really worked hard on their sentences and words. The pictures they drew of me and of Adam- even one of Teagan with one tooth, are adorable! The cover and back are black and white polka dots to match my classroom and there is a picture of them all waving to the camera on the front. They did this with one of my students mom's (who has also been my substitute all year) one day when I was absent. Very sneaky! I posted a couple of pictures from the shower. The cake was perfect and the kids were sweet during the whole thing. I am so happy to be at this school with these amazing parents that have become great friends! God works in wonderful ways. Not only am I thankful to be so close to home but also by surrounding me with so many great teachers who are mothers that love to share advice and genuinely care about how I am doing and how they can help! I hope to be a blessing in someone's life just like they have been a huge blessing in mine.

Today we had our first official "cervical check." I am 1cm dilated and 60% effaced!! She is making progress...
Adam is great about making it to the appointments. He was excited to hear what Dr. Sara had to say! She called Teagan "A Little Peanut" saying I had a lot of fluid and she still has room to wiggle- which she does often! She guesstimated her at not quite 5 lbs. If we make it all the way to 40 weeks gaining 1/2 a pound a week, she'll be around 7. It'll be interesting to see how good her guess is!
Teagan has to hold off until after Friday which is her last baby shower given by my wonderful room mom! The students and their parents will attend! I'm looking forward to it! Some of the kids are having a hard time keeping their gifts a secret! It's too cute.
Adam and I have all of Teagan's things washed and organized! We learned a ton about batteries last night at Target while trying to find batteries for the bouncers, toys, noise things, etc. It was fun! Did you know the number after the A, AA, B, C, D batteries (i.e., C4 or C12) only means how many are in a pack?! We thought C12 would just be more powerful than C4 but come to find out it has nothing to do with power- you just buy 12 batteries and you're set for life!
We have our things together for the hospital bags and all of her stuff ready to be packed! I sanitized all the bottles, pacifiers and bottle parts so we're ready just in case breast feeding goes down hill!
I just got home from a prenatal massage Adam got me for my birthday! It was wonderful and I feel great. Ready for bed actually :o) He is off this week at 8pm....yuck....but keeps saying how much he is looking forward to his 2 weeks off and at home with his 3 girls! Bella is awfully snugly lately...she knows somethings up!

Adam woke up early this morning to make Crepes for me for breakfast! They were yummy and I wish I would have taken a picture because they were beautiful! He spent a good amount of time on them because I ended up falling asleep on the couch for what seemed like an hour. We are planning on installing the car seat and base today and making a trip to Babies'R'Us! He has a soccer thing at 4 so I think that's a great time for a nap!! Showers and Family

Today I went for our 34 week check up and everything is perfect! I feel great- just tired and a little swelling in my feet. Teagan's heartbeat was at 140 and she was moving a lot. Kicking/moving the cord- is what the nurse said. Dr. Sara is such a great doctor and friend I am so blessed she is in my life and enjoying this time just as much as we are! From here she said if Teagan is ready to come they won't stop her! Next appointment is May 19th!

Before my appointment today I had to appear for jury duty at 8:30am!! WOW- what an experience! I got chosen for the panel of 25 jurors and they questioned me and the others to narrow it down to 6 jurors on the panel. Thankfully I was not chosen for the panel of 6 and was sent home at 12:45pm. A long morning of sitting and waiting! They were worried I'd have sympathy for the defendant I guess due to my emotional state. Whatever it takes to get out of it and go home. I had a substitute for a full day so I came home and worked on Progress Reports which are due tomorrow.

Adam has been busy putting together Teagan's bouncers, her pack'n'play, and helping find a home for everything! Living with my organization is tough but I think he'd agree- well worth it! Mom is coming next Wednesday for my birthday on the 14th and to pamper me some more by washing Teagan's immediate wear clothes and anything else she'll come into contact with! We also have a lot of thank you notes to write so she'll help address those so I can get them out and checked off my to do list! We will finish up purchasing things with gift cards that we still need and then we should be all set! She wants me to concentrate on "keeping my feet up!" I can't argue with that!

These past 2 weeks/weekends have been crazy, but wonderful! My great friends Lindsay, Brooke, Abby and Whitney threw a McKinney shower and it was beautiful! It was so nice to see everyone who came that I hadn't seen in a while. And I loved spending time with the people I am so lucky to see regularly! Then this weekend I traveled to Lubbock for another shower!! I was hesitant and paranoid to fly on the plane with the Swine Flu going around but no one appeared sick on the flight and I just made a conscious effort to not touch my mouth or face at all. I made it to Lubbock Thursday night and spent Friday with mom getting things done and relaxing of course! She pampered me all weekend!!! Always taking care of me! Saturday was the shower and that morning Adam drove in from McKinney and also Lynn. We attended the perfect shower given by 7 wonderful women! It was so good to see Amber B. (Wooldridge) and Teresa who I haven't seen in forever, as well as all of my hostesses and other friends and family who stopped by to show how much they love Teagan already! Thank you to everyone! 30 week check up

We had our 30 week check up today! Teagan's heartbeat was great at 144 and my blood pressure also good. I am measuring a "little small." Nothing to worry about. The doctor we met today ( not my OBGYN but another in the practice ) felt to see about how big she might get. I told him I was a 9.5 baby and he said no way she'll be that big- he thinks she will be around 6.5 maybe 7. We shall see! He said she's put on most of her weight already and now lungs are developing more as well as more brain development. I am feeling her like crazy and was concerned why her punches and kicks were hurting. He basically said with my size I can probably feel everything and my belly is stretched to the max so there is no where for her to go. I feel great besides being tired and a little irritable with my 20 kids in class. For the most part they are being sweet. Today one little girl saw me bending down picking up scraps of paper from their assignment off the floor and she said "Mrs. Colberg, I'm sorry you have to keep bending down to pick up all our trash. I would be happy to volunteer!" Very thoughtful of a 6 year old I thought. :o) They LOVE touching my stomach and seeing if she will move for them. She has kicked or moved for everyone in the class so no one feels left out! We are hatching chick eggs for Science this 9 weeks and they are loving that! I am not a huge fan of touching the eggs in the incubator and turning them but maybe once they hatch and fluff up I will enjoy their presence in my room. Adam is very busy at work with the new Obama HASP (Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan) being implemented. We are really excited about all of the family/friends coming in for the McKinney shower on the 25th! Can't wait to spend time with everyone!
We are also excited to say we found someone to watch Teagan next year!! Her name is Holley and she only watches teacher's kids so she can have holiday's and summers off to be with her 3 children (2 yr old, 5 yr old, 8 yr old) She used to be a special-ed Pre K and Kinder teacher (tons of patience!) and lives in McKinney! She only takes 4 children one of which is part time (2 days a week) and she is very affordable! She was a huge blessing and it just worked out perfectly that she was in need of one child to fill a spot that will open up come August. This all came about right after I found out I did not receive maternity leave. I will have the summer with Teagan, but back to school when she is about 2 months. "When one door closes another opens!"

Texas Weather

What a horrible weather weekend this was to have company come visit. It was raining Thursday (Adam's softball game cancelled) freezing cold Friday and Saturday (the 5K walk/run in Dallas) and Sunday beautiful but due to all the rain Adam's soccer game cancelled. Although it was yucky weather we enjoyed seeing family and spending time with them. Today Adam, Lynn and I planted some flowers and shrubs in our front yard! Hopefully there won't be another freeze, or if there is the flowers will hold on. The rest of our day has been lazy - watching the golf tournament waiting for a roast to cook for dinner.
Last Tuesday we went to the doctor and heard Teagan's heartbeat and got a full checkup! Teagan vs. Teigan has been a big topic around here. We have weighed pros and cons of both and are going to be spelling her name with an EA instead of an EI. Teagan Michele Colberg. It's official! Well not really until the birth certificate I guess! At the doctor I was measuring exactly 28 weeks and they said my weight gain was good- 16 pounds. She is growing fast now and putting some fat on her body according to my books. She moves around in my belly a ton and you can see the body parts move my whole stomach. It's such a crazy thing to watch! I can tell now where her head is and I am recognizing the feeling of her feet- mostly in my ribs :o) She is awake during the night time hours- between 1 and 3...so I am anticipating this come June. We can't wait to see her!

Spring Break

I am so glad we get a Spring Break as teachers! It is much needed and I am enjoying mine as much as I possibly can. Right now I am in my pjs (as I have been all day- except when I dropped Bella off at the groomer this morning) updating our baby registries, eating some yummy cinnamon muffins that I just baked-it is 5:22 in the afternoon now :o)! Mom, Dad and Carter came into town Saturday afternoon to visit. We had a nice dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and turned in early to watch a movie. Sunday Mom and I shopped while the boys went to a gun range with some of Adam's friends. That night we had 3 couples over for Fajitas minus one couple, our good friends Gabe and Lindsay who were at the hospital having their baby boy Brody! Dinner was fun but we missed them not being there. Brooke and Steve brought their week old baby, Gavin and another couple brought their 2 month old little girl with them. We are so excited for the other couple that was there- they are expecting twins in October!! Our lives are changing, but we are really happy to have such great friends around us who are at the same stage in their lives too! Tonight Adam has his first softball game of the season with the "Old Guys" as we call them. They are a team he has played with the longest before he started a team with some of his other guy friends. That team is no longer around due to the baby boom :o) Most of the guys who played on that team now have new additions to their families so no time to play softball. Adam's uncle Jed and his wife Christy and their 7 month old twin boys Jack and Ty are driving from the Arlington area to meet us at the softball game in Plano. I am excited to hang out with Christy and the twins while Adam and Jed play. Tomorrow I have a much needed hair appointment and I am meeting a friend from my Plano school for lunch who I have not seen in a little while! Saturday my cousin Franki will be in town and we are going to meet for lunch that afternoon. I still have to finish report cards before Monday so in my spare time I guess I will be doing that! Next week we are busy busy with Adam's aunt Ann and her 2 kiddos coming into town and staying with us on Tuesday. Wednesday Adam's mom Lynn will arrive and visit us until Monday! Thursday Adam's uncle Tom and his family are coming to visit the twins and we will all walk/run in the Butterfly Boogie Saturday March 28 in downtown Dallas. This beautiful letter explains more about it:

Dear Friends and Family,

We find ourselves approaching a very special time of year for our family. April 6th would be Ella's 2nd Birthday. As many of you know, we ran three Team Ella runs last year, each run bringing together a new group of the special people in ours and Ella's lives.

The runs were an incredible success! On October 20, 2007, seventeen of us ran a four mile course through SeaWorld and Mission Bay, and together raised $1400 for Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego! We all wore Team Ella shirts, with her pictures on our backs and her determination in our hearts. We ran strong, and celebrated a day of health, friendship, and remembrance. It was truly an exhilarating day for us.

On her birthday of last year, another seventeen ran the Carlsbad 5000, and then in May, while diagnosed with TTTS ourselves in our pregnancy with Jack and Ty, thirteen of us ran the 5K at the Rose Bowl benefiting Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Each race has been different and equally rewarding.

This year, we would love to extend a casual invitation to anyone who would like to join us on March 28th, in honor of Ella's birthday. We are excited to have found a race that is especially perfect for her: The Butterfly Boogie!. There are three race options: a one mile stroller walk, a 5K, and a 10K. All fitness levels are encouraged to run/walk at any pace. We will be walking as a family in the One Mile. Jack and Ty are very excited to run their first Team Ella event (well, be pushed by Mommy!!), proudly wearing their very own Team Ella onesies! Christy will be running the 5K, and James will be running the 10K.

We have both enjoyed our past races tremendously, and it feels awesome physically and mentally to join with so many others pushing themselves and being positive. For those of you in California and New Mexico, of course we know that you probably won't be joining us this year, but we wanted you to know about it so that you can be with us in spirit on such a meaningful day for us. For those of you in Texas, though you never got to meet Ella (with the exception of her TT Nicole!), we'reexcited to share the spirit of Team Ella with a new family!

Furniture and Bedding arrived!

We are excited to have our furniture and bedding here! I am looking forward to putting things in their place and nesting a little more. We have a busy April with 2 showers and one in May! I am really looking forward to Spring Break next week and hopefully seeing mom, dad and Carter who might be driving here early in the week!! This week is crazy with Open House tonight and report cards and assessments due by Friday. It is time for a break! I am exhausted and getting big! I can feel the stretching on the sides of my stomach in the love handle region :o) It feels like I am sore from doing sit ups but that is definitely not the case!! Here are some pictures of the room so far! I'll post one to show how big my belly is getting this week some time.

Africa

Today I stayed home sick from school to rest and wait for my antibiotics to kick in. I went to the Dr. yesterday complaining of a bad sore throat and ear pain. Turns out I have an ear infection and it is causing the sore throat and sinus stuff. Not fun! It was great to stay home and sleep in, but I still had to go up to school and help out with the Africa presentation. I couldn't miss it and all the hard work we've put into it! The kids did great and all 20 of mine showed up! The pictures above are a class picture right before we went onto the stage in my room and the other is of one of my groups of 5 presenting their research project on Madam CJ Walker.

I also had a baby check up today. Everything looks good, I am measuring right at 23 weeks and have put on weight-not too much/not too little. "She is very active" the nurse said when listening to her heart beat which was 148 today. Seems like every time we listen to her she is squirming and moving. I thought maybe I should cut my sugar intake but the Dr. says no. She is just a wiggler. She's happy! :o)

All is well with Adam and his work. He installed a dimmer switch in the nursery. It makes it "very peaceful in there."-his words!
We worked well as a team to hang a mini chandelier.- pictured. Wow! That was quite the ordeal, but we got it up and it looks great!! All we need is furniture and Teigan to make it perfect!

This week was great! Half way there!!

Last night we went to some friends house that we haven't seen in a while and had Mexican food and enjoyed their company! This couple is due in May! We are so excited Teigan will have a friend who's mommy loves shopping just as much as hers! It was great seeing them again!

Today Adam and I plan on finishing the stripes in the nursery. The candlelight glaze is barely noticeable so we are off to get a metallic paint to hopefully achieve what we are wanting! Here is a better picture than the last of me and my growing belly!

Next week will be busy at school. The students are doing independent ocean animal research and getting ready for parents to come to Open House, we also have our Africa program Tuesday night. This whole month with Black History month we have also been teaching them about Africa since our team leader lived in Africa for 13 years. We taught the students to say some things in French and sing a song in French. I will take lots of pictures and I am hoping Adam can go to record it on video. They've been working so hard to get the walk down and making their costumes. The boys brought pillow cases and decorated them. They are called Bobo's and every time the word is said they laugh and laugh. The girls (including me) will wear the African skirts and head ties with a baby doll strapped to our backs. It is going to be cute! I also have a small group of 5 students who will present their black history poster on Madam CJ Walker. It is amazing what these 6 year olds can do these days. They researched her in class with library books and the internet and worked as a group to sum up her life and then draw it on a poster. I am very proud of them! Friday is a half day!! YAY!! But teachers have training the rest of the afternoon.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm sorry it has been such a long time since I posted! I feel like I have so much to say- this might be long... :o)

Tonight we had a nice dinner at Kobe Steak a Hibachi restaurant right by our house for Valentine's day. It was very last minute but they got us in and it was very good and enjoyable! We had reservations at Adam and my favorite steak house, Silver Fox for Friday but were unable to go since I came home early from school due to a very uncomfortable feeling in my pelvic area. Somewhat the same feeling I had when we went to the hospital a few weekends ago. (for those who don't know - it was due to dehydration-with minor contractions from an irritated uterus. They basically treated me for a bladder infection and told me to increase my water intake. It's crazy how much better I felt after drinking a TON of water.) Friday this uncomfortable feeling was accompanied by a stomach bug and exhaustion from the night before. Lots of things on my plate and some changes taking place due to this lovely economy. I kept myself awake and worried- the last 2 days had taken a huge toll and it finally caught up to me. I am working hard on getting my stress under control, for Teigan's sake and for mine. Also for Adam's sanity!

Yes, Teigan (TEE-GAN) is what we have been calling our little girl and we love it! She has been very busy lately and Adam and I enjoy watching my stomach move when she moves. We played some music to her tonight before dinner. She was kicking a lot to Rascal Flatts new song. It was pretty funny! She is growing fast and I am feeling it!

Today was very busy. Adam finished painting the nursery's base color and tomorrow we will start the stripes with a candlelight glaze to make a shimmer effect. It is turning out well...the color we chose ended up having a tiny pink tint once we put it up on the walls, so I think it is going to be perfect! We also finished registering. We have registries at www.lonestarbaby.com (Lonestar Baby and Kids), Babies R' Us, Target, and a few things on Restoration Hardware baby (www.rhbabyandchild.com). There are so many things to think about when registering and I'm sure I will be adding and deleting things as the months go on, but I feel more accomplished having that taken care of. Next on the list is to buy the furniture!

Baby shower

Today's baby shower was great! Thank you to my husband for his help and putting up with my obsessive compulsiveness with perfection...He went to get touch up paint for some spots on the walls-( probably from my bad pitching arm- Bella's ball leaving marks on our walls ) Anyway, the original paint store where the contractors got the paint when the house was built was closed today ; so Adam went to Benjamin Moore and had them "match" the color. He came home and touched up all sorts of spots! Well he left to go get a haircut and I came out a while later to find grayish splotches on the walls. The color was darker than the wall paint and we had random looking shadows on the walls...I had a melt down for a moment- emotions are high right now :o) and he felt bad. He came home and went strait for the blow dryer to see if maybe the paint was still wet....It wasn't. He went and sat in the living room in a chair like a "puppy that just got in trouble"- according to one of my friends who was helping set up with me at the time. He really was just trying to help and I can be a little anal at times I will admit. I'm sure no one even noticed with all the other fun things to look at. Here is a picture of the table set up and our hostess gift to the Lewis family for baby Brody. I have now decided I am making diaper cakes and selling them on the side. It was a blast making this one and I would love to do more! YAY it's February!

I know we put pictures up so that everyone could see our baby girl, but we didn't have time to write. We are both very excited to be having a girl and we went strait to Target to buy some girly clothes to celebrate! Oh, and we stopped at Pizza Hut :o)

Last weekend my mom came into town and helped me get organized in the kitchen. We put together some Fix and Freeze things so all I have to do is decide what sounds good for dinner and let it defrost while I'm at work- when we get home warm it up and dinner is served! It was great having her here and like always I wish she could've stayed longer, but she has to get back to Dad and Carter. I unfortunately, have to go back to work.

This weekend is going to be busy. We are having a friend's baby shower at our house on Saturday, so tonight (Friday) I have been busy cleaning and getting things ready! Sunday we are painting some more of the nursery. The handy work Adam did is all painted white and we will paint the rest of the walls a pearl/cream color with big stripes. One stripe will be shimmery metallic and the other just flat paint. Shiny and then dull. All around the room! I am looking forward to the finished product! I will also have another baby shower at our house the following Saturday for another friend. It's going to be fun and I LOVE doing things like this! I will post pictures of the showers once all is complete and picture worthy.

The baby has been kicking a lot. She is very busy during the school day -between 1-3:00. Maybe we won't have a night owl after all. I am not bothered during the night by kicking or movement. She seems to really start moving around when I eat. Adam has felt her a few times in the evening and it's the best feeling knowing she is moving around and happy. We have thought of a name we are almost certain we will call her but we also have others we are contemplating. We will let you know the name as soon as we think this is the one. I already know this will be the one...We both love it and smiled at each other when we found it. I got a giddy feeling so I am almost positive this will be the one we choose! Adam charged up the camera to take a picture of my growing belly but fell asleep....guess all that cleaning and laundry wore him out. HA! I hope everyone is well and I'm sorry we aren't updating this more (Amber W. and Colleen)! I promise I will do better!!

This is my first solo blog, and I have lots to talk about. Amber is already reading over my shoulder and trying to correct my grammar. I think somebody needs to get back into the classroom already. Tomorrow is her first day back and she is already complaining. It has been a good break for her she got to spend a lot of time with her family and enjoyed sleeping in and taking it easy. We spent Christmas in Lubbock this year with Amber and her family. Amber got there early and came home later, but I didn't stay as long because of work. When Amber got back we had another appointment with the Dr and we were both excited about being able to find out if we were having a girl or a boy. Turns out that the appointment was just another check up. We had already told all of our friends and family that we were hoping to find out, but oh well not a total disappointment We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time (157 bpm). There are all these rumors about being able to tell the gender by the heart rate, but after some thorough research its all just a bunch of baloney. So in short we still don't know what we are having, but are getting more and more anxious to find out. Amber woke up this morning around 3AM because she felt the baby move for the first time. Not the most perfect timing, but I was excited to be woken up by this news as opposed some of our walking, talking, black spider shenanigans. This New Years was interesting to say the least. Let me see if I can paint you a picture. Three dads to be, three moms to be, a new mom and dad with twins, and some friends that we are hoping are not far behind us. I think this was a small glimpse into all of our futures, but we still had fun and we enjoyed everyones company as always. Work is crazy for me right now because interest rates are so low. It was a long and stressful year with the economy, and I am thankful to have our baby as some new found inspiration to keep myself motivated. I did find some motivation to begin the process of building our new nursery. Amber is always so insistent on hiring a professional, but I am hopeful that I will impress her with my skills. We will continue to post more pictures as progress is made in the room but the wainscoting was the first of many steps. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a great New Year. What a crazy and exciting year 2009 is going to be!

Ice Storm

I thought this was the perfect day to blog. We had really icy weather last night and school was canceled today! I made my way out to the grocery store this morning and it took me a good long while to make it there. The roads are pretty bad! I made it safely and was excited to return home to start making Irish Cream. We give this to our friends each Christmas.
I am feeling good! Tired and hungry. The sickness stage is over past 13 weeks so I am very lucky to say I never once got sick! My pants are no longer fitting. I have not shopped for maternity pants yet -I'll save that adventure for a later date :o)
I fly out on Sunday December 21 to go to Lubbock! I will spend Christmas there and return to McKinney the 29th. Adam will join us in Lubbock on Christmas Eve. He is driving and bringing Bella along. All of the places to board dogs were booked! We called 4 or 5 different businesses. No luck. We will enjoy her company and I think Roxy (Carter's boxer) will have fun playing with her at Mom and Dad's.
Last time I wrote I mentioned that my team did not know about my being pregnant. Well they now know and the staff at my school knows as well. My principal told the staff at our Holiday Christmas party last Wednesday after school. She said there was a new colt on the way (the colts are our school mascot). She said if that's you stand up. So I stood in front of all the staff and everyone cheered. Lots of hugs and conversations about how I was feeling, the due date, etc. I will tell my class on Friday- possibly earlier. They are very good at picking up on these sorts of things. A couple of them overheard another teacher telling me congratulations and they asked why she said that to me. I told them I would tell them Friday what early Christmas gift Santa brought me!!
We are not finished Christmas shopping yet! I feel like we should be. We still have a couple more people to finish up on Saturday.

Squirmy Strawberry

This week the baby is being compared to a strawberry due to it’s size. In the last picture he/she looked like a gummy bear. I am sure when born, I will be thanked for always referring to the baby as food. It only fits, since that is all I dream and think about! I woke up on Sunday morning wanting biscuits and gravy. In the past week I have had 2 dreams where biscuits and gravy were the focus. Hmm? Adam drove me to Market Street where I was happy to get my biscuits and gravy! Adam has been great! Two nights ago I woke up annoyed, threw the covers off and he asked “Are you hungry, or do you need to go to the bathroom?” I was hungry, so he went to the kitchen for me and got me milk and Oreo cookies. Last night he attempted a new pancake recipe! They tasted yummy, but for some reason were sticking to the pan and wouldn’t flip, they were not the best looking pancakes…..he got an A+ for effort!

This afternoon we were so excited to hear the baby’s heartbeat! When we got to the doctor she weighed me…gained 5lbs. already, and measured me and then asked if I was feeling okay and said we’ll see you in 4 weeks! I looked at Adam who made this appointment his lunch break but with no food, then asked her why we weren’t going to hear the heartbeat today. She said it was too early but if I wanted to we could try to find it. Of course! So we listened and all we heard was a very squirmy baby. Dr. Sara laughed and said he/she must be doing summersaults. There was A LOT of movement. But still too small to hear the heartbeat. Our next appointment is not until December 30. Wish I had pictures to post :( According to insurance we only get 2 sonogram pictures. So the next picture taken will be at 18-20 weeks to find out gender- if visible., watch the heartbeat, etc. Looking forward to that! From the sound of it the baby can’t sit still like his/her dad, and both the grandpa’s :)

We finally understand how to build a blog! Adam is very technologically savvy, good thing for that. As you are all aware, we are very excited to be expecting our first baby! Some of our friends began blogs and we thought this was a great way to keep family and friends updated on what's going on, pictures, etc. Our second doctor's appointment was last Tuesday 11/11 at 3:00. Co workers at my school do not know what's going on yet, but no one is questioning all of these appointments I'm having! They will find out after Thanksgiving break- which is in 5 days exactly!! I need a break from the 18 kiddos. Time to catch up on sleep and be able to eat what I want, when I want. I am having a hard time packing my lunches. I will pack everything in sight since I don't know what will sound good at 11:00 and then I am usually hungry again around 1:00. Adam has never seen me eat so much! Here is a picture of our last visit to Dr. Sara. Very blurry. We aren't sure where the head is but the baby is nice and cozy up in the corner. Our next appointment is on November 25, we will post more pictures then!
